In 1912 Isidor, his wife Ida, and his granddaughter Beatrice traveled to Europe, Southern France. While returning, the couple boarded the Titanic alone with their attenders on April 14, 1912, and their granddaughter Beatrice did not accompany them.The couple usually boarded the German ships, but fate had other plans. They boarded the Titanic. The Titanic ship was hit by a huge iceberg and collapsed; Isidor preferred to stay back on board, and his wife, Ida, refused to leave him and stayed with him; the couple died in this mishap; Isidor’s body was recovered and sent to Nova Scotia from there; his remains were taken to New York.He was first buried in Straus -Kohns Mausoleum in Brooklyn.
