About Glenn Danzig Record producer Glenn Allen Anzalone, popularly known as Glenn Danzig, was born on June 23, 1955.Glenn Danzig is a well-known American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer born in Lodi, New Jersey, in the United States of America. His father, Richard Anzalone, was a television serviceman and war veteran who fought in World War II and the Korean War. His mother, Maretta Price, worked at a record store.Danzig struggled during his early life but graduated from Lodi High School in June 1973 and later has his graduation from the New York Institute of Photography. He took piano and clarinet assignments and tutored himself to play guitar as a child. When he was 11, he started his music business and played as a drum roadie and guitarist for many garage bands. In the ’70s, Glenn Danzig founded the Misfits, his first punk rock band but later disbanded it in 1983 because he was dissatisfied with the band members’ musical abilities. He went on to work on a new band project, Samhain, and in 1984, he released its first debut, ‘Initium’. Samhain was more of deathrock and heavy metal-infused punk rock style than the Misfits. After successfully releasing two albums, Glenn Danzig sold the Samhain band to Rubin in 1987, who changed its name to Danzig.Later that year, Danzig was asked to record a song for Roy Orbison, using a female vocalist, but when Rubin failed to find a suitable singer, Danzig went ahead and recorded the song himself. The song, ‘Life Fades Away’ turned out to be added to the film’s soundtrack, ‘Less Than Zero.’ Glenn Danzig worked on many projects in the Danzig band, including its debut in 1988, and in 1992, he composed his first classical music, ‘Black Aria’. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard classical music chart, and in 1994, Glenn Danzig wrote the song ‘Thirteen’ for Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash was an American singer-songwriter whose music centered on sorrows, tribulations, and redemption. In 1996, Glenn Danzig completely changed the course of the Danzig band because his relationship with Rubin had become estranged, and in 1999, he signed the band to E-Magine Records and became the first artist on the label. Subsequently, he recorded three albums that portrayed a slight deviation from heavy metal-infused style to gothic metal sound. Due to changes in Glenn Danzig’s voice, the Danzig band kept changing its lineup with each album, even up to 2006, when he released his second solo album, ‘Black Aria II’. In October and November 2007, Glenn Danzig toured the western United States in support of his most recent album, where he featured classic Misfits tunes, and on one of these tours, he fell off the stage and injured his left arm. In recent years, Glenn Danzig has held a couple of misfits tours, but in an interview with Revolver, Glenn Danzig has hinted that his current ten-days US tour might be his last tour, although he’s still interested in one-off performances.Glenn Danzig moved to Cheviot Hills, Los Angeles, in the early ’00s.
