His professional career began in 1980 with the Windsor Spitfires, when he was bumped up to play in the Ontario Hockey League; he later played for the International Hockey League, the American Hockey League (AHL), and the Central Professional Hockey League (CHL) as well, playing interchangeably in various leagues over the years.He played for the former National Hockey League (NHL) team, the Quebec Nordiques, as a defenseman from 1984-1986, after which he played with the teams Fredericton Express, Halifax Citadels, Kansas City Blades, Français Volants, Baltimore Skipjacks, and the Moncton Hawks in the AHL until he retired from professional ice hockey in 1992.He began his professional coaching career with the major league junior ice hockey team, the Hull Olympiques, which was part of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
