In 2006 and 2008, the team won the national championship. The Oklahoma Sooners were the national champions in 2006 and 2008. In 2008, the artistic gymnast returned to elite gymnastics when he competed in the US national championships. Brooks captained the men’s gymnastics team for the Sooners in 2009 and was an All-American in many years and events.In July, he participated in the Japan Cup and helped the USA men’s team win a bronze medal. He participated fully in the US National Championships later that summer in Hartford, Connecticut, where he won gold on the high bar and silver on the parallel bars, earning a spot on the senior national team. Later, he represented the United States in the 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam, where he contributed to the team’s fourth-place finish and sixth-place showing in the high bar final. Chris Brooks was chosen to be part of the team Hilton Honors, a group of male gymnasts, in 2011. Chris went on to compete in the Olympic trials, where he stood in the fourth position with Jake Dalton. At the Winter Cup in February 2012, he took part and placed third on the horizontal bar. On March 12, he guided the team to a gold medal with a standout performance at the Pacific Rim Championships in Everett, Washington. Brooks won the 2014 Winter Cup Challenge all-around competition and was selected for the senior men’s national team of American gymnastics. He missed the P&G Championships because he was rehabilitating from a hand injury later in the year. The five-person United States men’s gymnastics Olympic team was announced on June 25, 2016, and Brooks was included.
